Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of auricular point pressing therapy in intervening sleep disorders in patients with stable-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods: A total of 60 outpatients from the Department of Respiratory Medicine with regular follow-up and no acute exacerbations in the past 3 months were selected and divided into the control group and the experimental group using the random number table method. The control group received sleep education once a week, while the experimental group was additionally treated with auricular point pressing therapy on this basis. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. Changes in Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), sleep efficiency, COPD Assessment Test (CAT) score and modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) dyspnea scale score were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the PSQI and CAT scores in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group (p < 0.05). The improvement in sleep efficiency was statistically significant in the experimental group before and after treatment (p < 0.05), whereas no significant difference was found in the control group (p > 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in mMRC scores in either group before and after treatment (p > 0.05). Conclusion: On the basis of routine sleep education, adjuvant auricular point pressing therapy can not only improve sleep quality and sleep efficiency in stable-stage COPD patients complicated with sleep disorders, but also relieve dyspnea symptoms to a certain extent.
